Grade Scales for Exams
MAP 2302, Section 3149
Elementary Differential Equations
Spring 2018

The exam-grade cutoffs given below are the bottom for the "flat" grade, not the minus-grade. (For example, if the cutoff listed for a B is 50 points, then 50 is a B; 49 is a B-.) The A- cutoff is 1/3 of the way down from the A cutoff to the B cutoff, the B+ cutoff is 1/3 of the way up from the B cutoff to the A cutoff, the B- cutoff is 1/3 of the way down from the B cutoff to the C cutoff, etc. (except that I do not give D-'s; anything lower than the D cutoff is an E).

Each average and median below was computed from the scores of only those students who took that exam.

The class GPA was 2.67. This average includes an E for an "anomalously still-registered" student who attended class at most once or twice except to take the three midterms, and did not show up for the final, but was still on the class roster at the end of the semester. Not counting this student, the class GPA was 2.93. The class GPA for the last MAP 2302 section I taught (Spring 2017, a non-honors section) was 2.49.

If you have a question about your grade or would like to look at your graded exam, please DO NOT EMAIL ME THE QUESTION; you may write to me after May 14 to make an appointment to see me in my office. (I have no regular office hours during the summer.) I will not send or discuss grades by email, and will delete, without responding, any email requesting a response related to grades or exam-scores.
