About this course

This course is the honors version of the second semester of the three-semester calculus sequence. Topics to be covered are listed in the syllabus .

This is an honors math course, and therefore will be geared towards students who are unusually strong and well-prepared in math. In particular, students will be expected not to make errors that indicate lack of understanding of algebra. Students will also be expected usually to obtain completely correct answers to multi-step calculations, in real time, without the aid of calculators.

MAC 3473 will be recorded on your transcript as "Honors Analytic Geometry and Calculus 2". Admissions committees at graduate and professional schools, as well as potential employers, will assume this course was more difficult than the non-honors version and that the grading standards were tougher. Therefore more will be expected of you than in the non-honors Analytic Geometry and Calculus 2 course, MAC 2312.

Prerequisite for this course

Calculus 1 at the level of MAC 2311 or higher. You will need a good working knowledge of Calculus 1, not merely to have taken it at some time in the past.
