Although MAS 4156 is titled "Introduction" to Vector Analysis, all students eligible for this course have seen vector analysis before in Calculus 3. This is course is intended to go beyond what is usually covered in Calculus 3; it is not intended as a course for students who have forgotten Calculus 3 and need to re-learn it from scratch. We will briefly review the necessary material from Calculus 3 before extending it. Once a topic is reviewed, students will be expected to have the same skills at their disposal as if they had taken Calculus 3 last semester, did well, and are ready to proceed to learn new and more difficult material. Students for whom a brief review is insufficient will need to fill in the gaps on their own.
