Due-date: Monday, 12/3/18.
You are required to do all of the problems below. You will not be required to hand them all in. I have indicated below which ones you do have to hand in on the due-date. Don't make the mistake of thinking that I'm collecting only the problems I think are important.
The "due date" above is the date that your written-up problems should be handed in, but don't wait to get started on the assignment. You should always get started on problems as soon as we cover the relevant material in class.
A: Rosenlicht Chap. IV/ 1–4. Of these, hand in only 1b, 2, 3. For 1bc, assume the truth of the Proposition on p.75, which I expect to prove on Monday 12/3.
Notes: (1) "Discuss the continuity of ..." means: Determine, with proof, at which points the indicated function is/isn't continuous. If you see how to apply problem #3 to help with some proof(s) in problem #1, you may do so. (2) In problem 1b, among the "general properties of the sine function" you're allowed to assume is continuity.B: Click here for non-book problems. Of these, hand in only B1.
