-
Taking notes in a college math class
-
Proof-writing quiz
-
What is a proof? Ignore the references to the
textbook; this handout was originally written for a linear algebra
class (MAS 4105).
-
Mathematical grammar and correct use of terminology.
Same comment as above.
- One-to-one and
onto: What you are really doing when you equations. This
handout was written for a low-level class, but many students even
in high-level classes have never seen, or thought about, the logic
that's involved in manipulating or solving equations. The same
logical principles in this handout apply when manipulating or
solving inequalities; the only ideas in the handout that aren't
relevant to inequalities are "one-to-one" and "onto".
- Notes on Integration,
current version. Essentially the same as the 2/10/19 version
through Corollary 6.41. An exercise that used to follow Corollary 6.41
has been deleted (and a few lines of text inserted). This affects
the numbering of subsequent exercises (new Exercise 6.4 = old
Exercise 6.5, etc.), but not the numbering of anything else.
- Notes on
Integration, version dated 2/10/19. Essentially the same as the
1/31/19 version through Corollary 6.30. A new Lemma 6.31 has been
added, changing the item-numbering beyond that point (current Theorem
6.32 = old Theorem 6.31, etc.). The proof of Theorem 6.32 (as newly
numbered) has been modified slightly, and there are some changes after
Theorem 6.32. An index to definitions of notation and terminology,
Section 6.11, has also been added.
-
Notes on Integration, version dated 1/31/19.
-
Some notes on normed vector spaces.
-
Improper Integrals.
-
Some notes on multivariable derivatives.
-
Notation-difference chart
. Notational and terminological differences among Rosenlicht,
Dr. Groisser, and instructors using the notes written by
Drs. McCullough and Jury. (May be updated occasionally.)
